If you’re hosting an event or party and need some delicious treats, make sure you plan accordingly and get your cake as close to the event as possible. There’s nothing like a fresh, delicious cake to make your celebration complete!

Our Chocolate Celebration Cake and Vanilla Sponge Cake can be ordered directly through our online shop with standard UK delivery taking 3 to 5 days, so we recommend factoring this into your plans. Or, you can head over to your local Lazy Day stockist and pick one up from the supermarket shelves.

How Long Do Our Cakes Last Once Opened?

In the (unlikely) event that you have any cake left over after opening, you’ll need to make sure you consume the remaining cake according to the guidelines on the packaging, as this will vary across products.

We also cannot guarantee the freshness of any of our products after they’ve been opened, as it’ll depend on how you store them, where you store them, and when you first opened them.

Can You Put the Cake in the Freezer?

We haven’t carried out any freezer trials, but many customers have tried this with both our Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Sponge Cake and reported back that the cake remained just as tasty!

How to Store Our Cakes Once Opened

There are a few different ways in which you can store opened cake, but the key is to ensure it’s properly covered and kept in a cool, dry place to avoid any bacteria growth.

  • Box it back up in the original packaging – Our cakes come in a sturdy cardboard box, so if you've still got it, simply pop the cake back inside and close the lid securely. We find a bit of sticky tape along the edges helps to make sure it's properly sealed again. Keep it in a cool, dry place.

  • Wrap it up in foil or film – If you've thrown away your cake box, you can wrap the leftover cake in cling film or foil instead. We'll also do this if we're giving pieces of cake to friends and family to take home with them.

  • Use a food container – We all have a dreaded tupperware cupboard, but this is where those seemingly endless tubs come into use! Grab a clean tub and place your cake inside, making sure to put the lid on securely.

  • Keep it in a lidded cake stand – A cake stand with a lid is an excellent way to store your cake and display it at the same time (our cakes are beautiful enough!). Put your cake on the stand and pop the lid on.

Always store your cake out of direct sunlight and at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
